job summary:
Technical Delivery Managers are looked to as leaders and experts in the delivery of data integration initiatives, both by the customers they serve and within the organization. For customers, this means the TDM is expected to leverage their technical domain expertise to drive project delivery, lead the technical project team, clearly set and manage customer expectations, and proactively address and resolve project related issues. TDMs will help establish the overall framework and integration solution design, driving utilization of common standards and processes. They will also be expected to actively participate in continuous improvement of deliverables, make refinements and additions to the integration methodology, contribute to the Knowledgebase, and coach/mentor other colleagues within the organization. TDMs are also responsible for day-to-day operations of environments within their domain, which includes afterhours support, as needed.

During an engagement, the TDM will be expected to:

  • Act as Business Analyst for the overall initiative
  • Liaise with architects, technical teams, and leadership (both business and IT) across the trading partner's organization
  • Provide the single point of contact for resolution of requirements and design related issues
  • Act as the primary interface point into our broader technical teams to ensure the full breadth and depth of the organization is leveraged for the customer's success
  • Communicate overall requirements and design status to the customer and to our management on a regular basis
  • Understand and be knowledgeable of all of companies' technology offerings in order to recommend the best solution to meet the requirements
  • Lead requirements meetings, including design kickoff, design status, steering committee, and other design stage gate meetings
  • Provide overall requirements leadership and direct technical teams in the delivery of high-quality products within committed timeframes and budgets
  • Ensure complete understanding of the project estimates and solution design in order to lead the team to deliver within the boundaries of the given estimates and assumptions
  • Manage customer expectations regarding project requirements, design and deliverables
  • Coordinate with project team members and partners to ensure the right resources are working on the right tasks at the right time, with clear expectations of milestones and goals
  • Mentor project team members on design methodology and drive utilization of consistent processes and deliverables During a project engagement, the TDM will be responsible for execution of the following deliverables as required:

    • Review internal systems and business procedures
    • Secure the appropriate reference materials
    • Conduct a trading partner survey
    • Conduct a communication/equipment survey
    • Review data contained in the documents to be exchanged
    • Determine what optional information will be employed
    • Decide on translation software configuration
    • Decide on a network provider/direct connect options
    • Finalize any optional services that you may wish to use from a network provider
    • Develop an overall design
    • Develop mapping matrix
    • Draft IBM PER for implementation
    • Engage IBM during development process for timeliness of deliverable(s)
    • Conduct a system test with translation and network
    • Conduct a system test with trading partner
    • Decide on production cut-over date
    • Implement Non-Project Related Responsibilities

      During a day, the TDM will be responsible for execution of the following:

      • Handle support calls, triage open support tickets, analyze the root cause and propose solution detail
      • Provide Level 1/2 support in EDI and related translations.
      • Independently prioritize and resolve customer requests, work as subject matter expert for environment, production break-fixes, ad-hoc reports and enhancement requests
      • Develop, implement and maintain an integration strategy to support organizational initiatives.
      • Develop professional, productive relationships within business units, other IT team members, and off-shore support staff
      • Utilize query and reporting tools to provide flexible and timely delivery of support to end users, act as SME to business users for solution proposal and training
      • May be required to work off-hours or weekends to support business in case of business-critical failures 

        Your Qualifications

        • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
        • 2-3+ years of transportation or logistics industry experience
        • 5+ years project delivery experience managing large or complex data integration projects as a Technical Lead, Lead Developer, or Lead Business Analyst
        • In-depth knowledge of data integration products for EDI, Web Services, APIs, etc. 
          • Expert Project Management skills including: estimating, scope management, budget management, time management, risk management, change management, issue/conflict resolution, communication management, quality management, testing plans, training plans, team management
          • Skills and knowledge acquired through participation in the delivery of data integration initiatives in each of the following areas: change management, release management, configuration management, systems integration, systems development life cycle methodologies, quality assurance and testing, requirements gathering, and systems analysis and design
