job summary: Exciting opportunity for an experienced packaging / automation engineer with a background in SCCM and Powershell for automating deployments.
The Packaging Software Engineer will be responsible for the configuration and management of packaged software.
This individual will package all necessary software for ease of deployment and management; create and document packaging processes including: packaged installs, updates and removals; testing of necessary software packages against standard desktops and other installed software.
Additional responsibilities will include assisting with the deployment of packaged software; and troubleshooting packaged application and deployment issues. location: Iowa City, Iowa job type: Contract salary: $35 - 40 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Associates
Typical work-related activities include: Create and/or modify application packages for automated deployment and install on workstations
Create and/or modify scripts, script wrappers, for application installs
Assist with creation of application packaging and deployment processes
Manage testing process for testing application packages
Work with IT and internal users to understand packaging requirements and dependencies
Troubleshoot and resolve application and package issues
Assist with automated deployments of packaged software
Research, analyze and make recommendations for future packaging and deployment processes
Assist with desktop related projects (OS upgrades, deployments, patching, and hardware refreshes, etc.)
Ensure client security and currency (N-1 strategy) qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related area required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
2-3 Years experience with packaging applications for automated installs
2-3 Years experience with management of desktop systems (including Windows 10) required (e.g. troubleshooting, application deployments, imaging, etc.)
Experience using SCCM
Experience using Flexeria Admin Studio and Wise Package Studio is preferred
Strong experience with PowerShell and/or VBscript is required, experience with Add Deploy Toolkit would be a plus
Experience with Amazon Workspace or VDI would be a plus skills:
Advanced knowledge of application packaging techniques and best practices
Strong ability to work through application issues and identify solutions to package
In-depth knowledge of Powershell and VB scripting to support packaged installs
Advanced knowledge of MSI, MST, and other installer formats
Ability to package using a variety of packaging techniques and tools (e.g. Wise Package Studio, Flexeria Admin Studio, and App-V 5+
Knowledge of SCCM and ability to deploy/troubleshoot packaged applications
Ability to understand and assess security related issues to a given application (e.g. if it is reaching outside the network to get updates, if it stores data outside of local machine, etc.)
Ability to configure and manage GPOs, LPOs, and login scripts for enterprise management
Ability to manage work through incident/change process
Familiarity with a ticket management solution (e.g. Remedy, Service Now, ZenDesk, etc.)
Can do attitude with strong business acumen to drive technology change
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills a must
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
