About the role

We’re working towards a strong future as a global organisation built on local relationships and assisting our clients in the development of their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies is a core focus for BDO WA.

An opportunity to join a growing Sustainability practice within a global audit, tax, and advisory firm. We are looking for an ambitious Environmental Analyst looking to help the SME market activate their sustainability journey by providing high quality, timely, pragmatic environmental support and guidance across a range of projects, programs and operations.

To be successful, you will:

Advising and guiding senior stakeholders on leading environmental practices.
Collating and analysing environmental data.
Assisting organisations to extract, verify and document environmental information
Translating environmental strategy into implementable actions for clients.
Writing environmental disclosure reports as part of ESG disclosure/sustainability reports.
Tracking environmental compliance developments across government, industry organisations, and regulatory bodies.
Developing processes and governance around service and product development.
Creating thought-leadership, training, and educational assets.

Technical and education requirements:

2+ years relevant experience in environmental management, engineering, or business improvement fields.
Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and policies.
Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, work independently across multiple engagements and manage competing priorities.
Ability to work across a range of industries.
Proven problem solving and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.
Agility to learn and adapt on the job.
Proactive approach to take initiative and identify new opportunities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated project management experience and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Tertiary qualification in engineering, environment/sustainability, or business.
Understanding of Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) Framework, or other sustainability reporting frameworks.
Experience working in the resources industry, government, or professional consulting services.
Practical experience with energy and emissions reporting schemes including National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting (NGER) scheme, National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) framework, the Safeguard Mechanism, or Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF).
