We have an exciting opportunity to join our Cancer Prevention and Research Division; to lead our well-respected, evidence-based Obesity Prevention Team. The goal of the obesity prevention program is to increase healthy eating and physical activity among West Australians.

The position of Obesity Prevention Manager is to ensure key performance indicators and outcomes of all programs are achieved.

Other key responsibilities include:

Deliver flagship programs in partnership with funders, such as the LiveLighter® campaign, Crunch&Sip program and Rapid Obesity Policy Translation project.
Ensure all projects reflect best practice health promotion principles and are consistent with the values, mission and strategic direction of the organisation, and deliver outputs required under contract agreements.
Contribute to the development and planning of new initiatives at both national and state level, with specific reference to obesity prevention and related policy development.
Contribute to the financial sustainability of the Obesity Prevention program of work.
Ensure all resources developed by the program are in line with relevant license agreements.
Provide supervision, support and performance management to the Obesity Prevention team.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Who are you?

To be successful in this role you will have the following key attributes:

Relevant tertiary qualification in Health (e.g. public health, health promotion, health science, behavioural/social science) or related field.
Minimum 3 years experience in a public health management role.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in roles that have involved delivering a comprehensive public health program comprising TV-led public education, targeted interventions and policy development.
Demonstrated experience in development of funding submissions, contract reporting and expenditure management
Knowledge of current local and national cancer control priorities will be highly regarded
Demonstrated ability to critically analyse relevant research will be highly regarded
Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge and experience in health research and evaluation methods
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
Positive approach to the workplace

Based in Subiaco, this position is full time. This position is required to work outside business hours when necessary including weekends and public holidays.
